Fresno, Tulare, Merced and Madera Counties are blessed with many lakes which encourage and promote water craft operation.  The Central Valley's hot summers also make such lakes a natural magnet.

However, operating a boat or other water craft while under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI) carries penalties similar to operating a motor vehicle.  Potential penalties could include fines, imprisonment, community service, required schooling and probation. 

As with operating a Motor Vehicle, you may not legally operate a boat with a BAC of .08% or greater or while your mental or physical abilities are impaired by alcohol or drugs.
